Beginner's Crochet Workshop

I'll be running a Beginner's Crochet workshop on Saturday 3rd May. This is for those who have never crocheted before and would like to learn from scratch:

You'll learn:
This will cover crochet techniques from the very beginning and is suitable for total beginners or those wanting to practice the basic stitches. You’ll learn:

  • Joining new colour
  • How to crochet in the round
  • A simple flower

The workshop will be held in my home which is a lovely open barn based near Lewes in East Sussex. This is a great and relaxing day out. I will make a lunch, some homemade cakes and biscuits and I'll be able to show you some of the current projects I'm working on too.

The cost for the whole day including lunch, practice materials and tuition is £60.

If you're a member of my Crochet Club the workshop is £50.

Homemaker magazine

I'm really exciting to be writing a monthly column for Homemaker Magazine. This will be a few words and then a knitting project. Am busy designing a Father's Day project at the moment. This will be a knitting project. I thought I'd show you the lovely yarn I'm using. This box of goodies just came through the post yesterday from DMC. This is a cotton called Natura Just Cotton. The colour range is really beautiful. I'll be using a gorgeous French blue.

Blanket for Simply Crochet Magazine

I've been working on this blanket for ages. I've had to do it in between the working on my new book for Cico and I've had very little time, but yesterday I finished it! Just need to work out if it needs blocking and pressing or not...

It will be in Simply Crochet Magazine in the next couple of months:

Inspired by vintage colours

I had a lovely day shopping for vintage clothes and dresses yesterday in Brighton with my daughter. We had such a lovely time. I bought two new dresses! A rare occurrence!

I'm often asked in interviews what inspires me and I find it hard to answer. But just walking through the streets of somewhere like Brighton or London is inspirational.

Look at these two colours together, I found them on a rail outside a vintage shop in Sydney Street. They work perfectly - light blue and pale orange - I'm definitely using that colour combination for my next design!

My two new dresses! Excited. The yellow one was irresistible, I love the colour. It's from Cos and a really good practical everyday dress. The other one was from a shop in the Laines somewhere in Brighton, I'm afraid I have no idea of what it's called! Can't wait to wear them.

Crochet Club

I've had a few queries about whether you can join the Crochet Club if you live outside of the UK. The answer is a big fat YES. Of course. I will send the patterns by email, so that is fine. The only thing that isn't possible are the offers on any yarns or free offers that come up, as it would be too expensive to post. But the patterns are still available and of course all the advice or support you need that comes with it. So please go ahead and join, we'd love to have some overseas members in our Club.

Nicki's Crochet Club News

Crochet Club News

I’m making something lovely for March's Club project. Perfect for Spring! These little brooches are very cheery. All members of the Club will receive the materials free for this project to make one brooch, which includes a variety of lengths of coloured strands of yarn for 3 blossoms and 3 leaves, beads, brooch pin, felt backing.

The pattern will be emailed to all members this Friday (14th) and the free pack will be sent at the beginning of next week. To those who thought I was going to do a hat this month, I hope you're not disappointed... but the weather has changed into Spring and I'll keep the hat for the next cold spell.  If you know anyone who would like to join the club or if you're not already a member, pass the word round and get them to join now in time for the free offer!
