I'm holding a Beginner's Patchwork Class on Saturday 9th June.
This is by popular demand and we'll learn how to make a very simple patchwork top inspired from the 'Camilla's Quilt' project in my latest book 'A Passion For Quilting'.
The class will be small and I only have room for a maximum of 4 people, so book early. You can bring your own machine, but if you haven't got one, let me know and I will provide one for you.
Come and learn to make your own patchwork quilt using either your own fabrics or you can buy from a range of fabrics that I have for sale. You can view them on the Laughing Hens website: http://www.laughinghens.com/fabrics.asp
I will provide cutters and cutting boards. The class will start at 10am and finish at 4pm and will cost only £70 for the whole day. Please bring a packed lunch. Cakes, biscuits, teas and coffees will be provided.
I have produced a new sewing kit on the Laughing Hens website. It's a really beautiful, yet easy child's pinafore dress in sizes 2 to 6. The kit can be made up of any of the Laughing Hens fabrics. At the moment it's on the website in this really pretty yellow with a green daisy pocket and interfacing. Only £22.50 for the whole kit which includes fabrics, buttons, pattern and instructions:
I've just received a copy of this through my letter box this morning and was very pleasantly surprised. This is the launch issue and it's really gorgeous and I'm sure will be very successful. It's very glossy, is based around the growing seasons and 'will celebrate the joy of the garden, simple seasonal kitch food, traditonal British crafts and the wonder of nature and the countryside' - just up my street and I can't wait.
Editor Sheena Harvey believes Landscape will be a "a haven from the pressures of modern living, a chance to slow down and a reminder of the good things in life." She says: "It is a truly unique offering".
I've designed a little crochet project for this first issue, but I'm not just biased because of that. The whole launch has been very hush hush, so I hadn't seen the rest of the magazine. It launches on the 18th April - get it!
A great review from Amazon from Super Scary Crochet:
This review is from: Super Scary Crochet (Paperback)
This book was a gift from my dear sister. Being a novice & only knowing 4 basic stitches, along with no knowledge of abbreviations or in fact how to read any crochet pattern & that includes a granny square. I would repeatedly cast on & off trying to make a granny square myself (thats how novice i was) I'm proud to say after my first attempt of the pocket Ghost. I've crochet nearly all of the scaries within a year. I found Batty Bat wings the hardest to do, but with the help of other sources I've cracked that tiny problem & Batty Bat does fly. I've used the patterns and produced other fantasy creatures, as you learn, practise & become more confident along with the helpful stitches guide at the back - For example the horns on the devil i crochet one horn to make a nose for a witch. This book has traught me how to read & understand patterns while making super scary crochet creatures & given me confidence with many crochet projects.
You can buy this on my website: http://www.nickitrench.com/. If you can't crochet why not come along on one of my workshops. Next one Saturday 12th May.
I'm holding a really lovely workshop next Saturday 14th April. We'll be hand sewing hexagons using paper piecing. It's from 9.30 to 12.30 and only costs £35, held in Radlett, Hertfordshire, UK. Just a small class, using lots of gorgeous fabrics. All practice materials will be supplied and there will be lots of fabrics for anyone who'd like to buy on the day. T
This is a good opportunity to spend a few relaxing hours hand sewing and learning a really basic technique from the California Bag project from my new book: A Passion For Quilting.
After taking a break to write books over the past few years, I'm now selling bespoke wedding and special occasion cakes
If you'd like a quote, let me know and we'll set up either an email or face to face consultation. Many of my wedding cakes have been featured in magazines such as: Cosmopolitan Bride, You & Your Wedding, Bride Magazine. Cakes can be made using fruit, carrot cake, madeira, chocolate, coffee & walnut, lemon or any flavour of your choice. Flowers are colour matched to your wedding or special occasion.
I still have some spaces on the Beginner's crochet workshop this coming Saturday 7th April.
I know it's Easter Saturday, but it's only for the morning and only costs £35 for some great tips, advice and a really good start to learning crochet. This is for complete beginner's. The intermediate class is in the afternoon.
Great Amazon review for Cute & Easy Crocheted Baby Clothes:
By Mandymoo - This review is from: Cute and Easy Crocheted Baby Clothes (Paperback)
I have to say I was a bit skeptical at first about ordering this book as I wasn't that fond of the projects on the front cover. I decided to buy it anyway as I bought Nikki's previous book 'cute and easy crochet' and loved it. I received it today and upon flicking through the patterns I am very impressed! The patterns are modern and practical. A few of my favourites are: baby shell cardigan, pocket trim cardigan, baby mittens, lilac booties, and the flower cot blanket is absolutely gorgeous! Can't wait to get crocheting. This book is a MUST buy for anyone wanting to crochet cute baby clothes.
