New Dates for Workshops

Beginner's Crochet: 9.30am till 12.30pm
Saturday 8th September
Saturday 10th November
This will cover crochet from the very beginning and is suitable for total beginners or those wanting to practice the basic stitches. You'll learn:
How to hold the hook and yarn
Double, treble crochet, slip stitch
How to crochet in the round
Crochet a flower
Cost: £40

Intermediate Crochet: 1.30pm till 4.30pm
Saturday 8th September
Saturday 10th November
You'll further practice your knowledge of basic crochet and increase your stitches and techniques. You'll be offered instruction in:
Waves & Chevrons
Intarsia
Clusters
Raised Flower Squares
And much more .....
If anyone from the Intermediate class has a specific technique they'd like covered, please let me know and I will schedule it in.
Cost £40
Practice wools and hooks will be provided and a chance to see some work in progress from the new crochet book I'm working on.

Hand Piecing Hexagon Workshop
Saturday 1st September (morning)
This workshop runs from 9.30am to 12.30pm
We'll cover cutting out the paper templates, fabrics and learning how to piece them together.
This is a hand sewing technique and is suitable for both beginners and intermediate sewers.
Cost £40 (includes materials)

Knitting with Colour: Fairisle & Intarsia
Saturday 3rd November (Morning Session)
This workshop runs from 9.30am to 12.30pm
For knitters who already have a basic knowledge of knitting and can already cast on, cast off, knit & purl.
Learn how to use colour, carry your work along the back neatly and learn the techniques for inserting a motif into your work.
Cost: £40

Beginner's Patchwork
Saturday 18th August 2012 (Beginner's Patchwork top)
Saturday 29th September 2012 (Beginner's Patchwork top)
Patchwork Top workshop runs from 10am to 4.30pm
Learn to make a simple patchwork top. Learn to cut using a rotary cutter and board, how to piece simple squares together, choose your design, sew it together and pressing techniques. Suitable for beginner's who know how to thread up a sewing machine. Bring your own machine (if you don't have one, contact Nicki)
Cost: £75 for the whole day. (cost £80 from September 2012)
Fabrics are available to buy at a cost of 40p per 6in square from the 'scraps' basket or fat quarters at between £2.60 and £3.90 per piece. Approx 6 squares per fat quarter. Fat quarters are cut from the fabrics for sale on the Laughing Hens website: www.laughinghens.com

Backing & Binding your Patchwork top
Saturday 6th October 2012 (Morning Session)
An opportunity to completely finish your patchwork quilt. Learn how to use backing, quilt 'in the ditch' and make a simple binding.
Cost: £40

Make Your Own Christmas Patchwork Stocking
Saturday 24th November
This workshop runs from 10am to approx 2-3pm (depending on skill)
Learn to make your own unique Christmas Stocking that will last a lifetime. It makes a beautiful gift and you'll learn crazy patchwork techniques and it gives you a great chance to practice your sewing skills. This is a great opportunity for beginners and intermediates alike in a beautiful friendly environment.
