Lovely review from Connecting Threads

Review of: A Passion For Quilting

(More Reviews by This Staff Quilter) A coworker spotted the book A Passion For Quilting by Nicki Trench and thought it reminded her of me and that I would like it. She was right. It's quite a cute book with a lot of simple, yet fun projects that I can definitely see myself doing. As with many other books I like, I really am drawn to the overall look and feel--the photography and how it's styled. That seemed to lock me in. Then, when I read through the book, I became even more excited. First off, I love how in the introduction of the book, Nicki makes a comment that states quilts aren't supposed to be perfect. I thought that was great, because often times quilts can seem daunting because of the precision needed. However, her point is that you’re making it and any little mishaps here or there can actually give the quilt or project charm. And I fully agree.

I love how there are a variety of projects in this book and each one is described quite simply and with illustrated diagrams to help you along the way. Overall the book touches on quilted projects, anything from quilts to bags to laptop covers. I was really drawn to the California Bag, a really cute bag made from paper pieced hexagons. I've only done paper piecing once before, but I can see myself doing this as my second endeavor. I also really liked the quilted laptop cover, it's just so fun and colorful and such an easy way to protect your laptop.

I think this book is a really good read and definitely worth adding to anyone's library collection. There is something in it for everyone!
