New crochet project

Do you remember Rolf Harris: 'Can you see what it is yet?'...... answers please......

This is my new project that I've started crocheting. Funny, but now that I've stopped knitting for the book, I'm back onto crochet again. But because I haven't crocheted for so long, it's hurting my arm! I had the same problem when I started knitting again.

Trying to teach Maddy too, so she can assist in my classes. She's picked it up incredibly quickly. And, she tells everyone that she's the only one in the family who can't make anything and is not the arty one! Not so...

Website design

Looking for someone to update my website for me. Nothing too complicated, but someone with an eye for design and the know-how to be able to put the functions on. I would like a shopping cart so people can buy a place on a workshop online too. If anyone knows anyone, pls let me know.

The Lovely Poppy

Stitches Show at the NEC

Went to the Stitches show at the weekend to give a talk on 'Super Cute Crochet'. A good day - Sue and Sharon came and helped and met Andy and Jeni to talk about Laughing Hens, Rooster and Fyberspates. The Cico Books stand looked really good. They had fabric as a back drop with an image some of their books, very effective and must do this when I open the Laughing Hens Craft Studio.

Sewing Class

Feeling very proud of my students from my sewing class. Here are some of their fantastic patchwork blankets:

Knitting Book

Now that I've got the bulk out of the way, I think I've gone a bit crazy. Missed my appointment at the hairdresser today, have hardly got out of my pyjamas and am playing the violin like a mad woman. Hair looks really awful too and I'm giving a workshop at the Stitches show in Birmingham on Sunday. May have to wear a scarf.

Fruit Book

Found this lovely book in a charity shop yesterday. It has loads of useful information, but probably no more than in my new book which is out tomorrow! But I love the illustration and the colours on the cover:

Tip of the Day - Blocking

I didn't ever used to block - was too lazy. But I always block now. It makes your knitted piece so much easier to handle, easier to sew up, you can put it back into the right shape - and the pins look pretty!

Find an old blanket or use an iron board as your base
place the knitted piece on top
Pin and shape it
Use a steam iron and steam the knitting over the top without touching it with the iron
Leave until it has dried naturally, overnight if possible

Stitch of the day

I've just finished a lovely little hat project for my current book using this stitch. It's such a lovely stitch and the hat looks so cute. Sadly I can't show it to you yet, but just had to share this. It's made from slipping stitches, so you don't have to twiddle and carry all that yarn along the back of the row. I call it Slip Stitch Tweed. I don't know it's official name, but it makes a plain project look so much more interesting.

A little taster of things to come......

Practical Poultry

I have an article in the March issue of Practical Poultry. 'New Roost'. I've tried to scan and post the article here, but it doesn't link.
